Review: Rival 14QT Roasting Oven

With the Holidays right around the corner now is the time to beef up your kitchen gadgets to help you out around Thanksgiving and Christmas. I have a rather small oven, so I thought the Rival 14 Qt. Turkey Roaster Oven would be a great tool for me to have since it also doubles as a second oven.

The Rival 14 Qt. Roaster Oven has a dial on the front with your temperature controls, and it goes all the way up to 450 degrees! The lid also has a sturdy heat proof handle so it's easy to remove without needing to put on hot pads.

The Rival 14 Qt. Roasting Oven comes with a removable roasting rack, to elevate your foods off of the bottom of the oven for more even cooking. I love that this Roaster Oven includes this.

Since Thanksgiving is right around the corner I didn't want to test this out by cooking a turkey, so I decided I would make Pork Loin with Red Onions, Garlic, and Sauerkraut. This Roaster oven is extremely easy to use, they suggest you plug it in and pre-heat the roaster to your preferred temperature for about 15 minutes prior to using it just like your standard oven would.

As you can tell, the Rival Roasting Oven browned the Pork Loin beautifully, and even gave it a brown crust which I love.

I then added the Onions, Garlic, and Sauerkraut and let that cook in the Roaster Oven for about 20 minutes until everything cooked down nicely. The Rival Roaster Oven did a great job at cooking everything down, and nothing burned to the sides or bottom of the oven.

Overall the Rival 14 Qt Roaster Oven is a great tool to have in the kitchen. It works just like you would expect it to, it cooks everything easily with no hassle whatsoever. I love that it comes with it's own oven rack so your foods can rest on that and cook more evenly. This roaster oven could take the place of so many other kitchen gadgets; an oven, rotisserie, or even a crock pot. The only negatives I have to say about this are, the bottom of this roaster oven is not removable so cleaning it takes a little time, but you can easily remedy that by putting a pan inside. The other negative is it definitely does heat up your kitchen, but that is to be expected since this oven is heating up to hundreds of degrees and sitting on your counter top. I can't wait to Roast a Turkey in here this Thanksgiving!
